Terms of Service
Last updated:
These terms explain the rules for using the ChildrenGoWhere app and this website. Please read them, and our Privacy Policy, before you use the app.
In short
- ChildrenGoWhere is a free guide to family-friendly places and events in Singapore.
- Details like opening hours, prices, crowd levels and age suitability are a guide. Always check with the venue before you go.
- You are responsible for supervising your children and deciding what suits your family.
- We do not sell tickets, take bookings or run the venues.
- Your account is yours. You can delete it in the app at any time.
1. Agreeing to these terms
These terms apply to the ChildrenGoWhere iPhone app and to childrengowhere.com (together, the “Service”). By creating an account, continuing as a guest, ticking the agreement box, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
The app is licensed to you through the Apple App Store. Unless we provide our own, the Apple Licensed Application End User License Agreement (the “Apple EULA”) governs your licence to use the app. These terms apply alongside it. If they conflict about your licence to the app, the Apple EULA prevails; otherwise these terms apply. Apple is not a party to these terms and is not responsible for the app, its content, support or maintenance.
2. Who can use ChildrenGoWhere
ChildrenGoWhere is made for parents and caregivers, not for children. You must be 18 or older, or have a parent or guardian’s permission, to create an account. If you add family members, including children, to your profile, you confirm that you are their parent, guardian or caregiver, or otherwise have the right to enter that information.
3. Accounts and guest use
- You can use the app as a guest, or sign in with Apple or with an email address and password. If we switch them on, you may also be able to sign in with Google or Facebook.
- Give accurate information, keep your password and device secure, and tell us promptly if you think someone has accessed your account. You are responsible for activity on your account.
- Guest use creates an anonymous account so the app can keep your favourites and preferences. It cannot be moved to another device or recovered if you delete the app.
- You can delete your account at any time in the app under Me > Settings > Privacy Settings > Delete Account. What happens to your data is explained in the Privacy Policy.
4. What ChildrenGoWhere is, and is not
ChildrenGoWhere helps you discover, compare and plan visits to places and events for families in Singapore. It lets you filter by age, budget and other factors, see details about a venue, get directions in Apple Maps, add events to your calendar, and save places to favourites and collections.
We are an independent guide. We do not own or run the places and events listed. We do not sell tickets, take bookings or payments for venues, and we do not endorse any venue, organiser or product. Any booking, purchase or visit is between you and the venue or organiser.
5. Place and event information
We compile details about places and events, such as opening hours, prices, age suitability, facilities, accessibility and safety notes, crowd levels, best times to visit and event dates, from the venues’ own websites, government and tourism listings and other public sources. We review it before it appears in the app, but we cannot promise it is complete, accurate or current.
- Hours, prices, closures, programmes and event dates change, and events can be postponed or cancelled. Please check with the venue or organiser before you travel.
- Crowd levels and best times to visit are general guides, not live data or a guarantee.
- Age ranges, “kid-friendly”, indoor or outdoor, “rainy day” and similar labels are guidance, not a safety or suitability assessment for your child.
- Travel time and directions depend on conditions and on Apple Maps. Estimates may be wrong.
If you spot something wrong or out of date, please tell us through the Support page.
6. Child safety and your responsibility
You are responsible for supervising your children, judging whether a place or activity is right for them, and following the venue’s rules and staff instructions. Safety and accessibility notes in the app are general and may not cover your family’s needs. Please do not use your phone while driving, and follow road and public transport rules when using directions. In an emergency in Singapore, call 999 (police) or 995 (ambulance and fire).
7. Location, calendar and notifications
These permissions are optional and you control them in iPhone Settings and in Me > Privacy Settings. Location is used to show places near you and estimate travel time. The calendar permission lets the app add events that you choose, and it cannot read your existing events. Notifications are sent only according to your preferences. The app works without location, though distance-based features are limited. See the Privacy Policy for details.
8. Your content
“Your content” means what you add to the app, such as your profile details and photo, family member entries, favourites, collection names and preferences. It stays yours. We do not publish it, and the app has no public profiles. You give us a limited permission to store, process and display it, only as needed to run the Service for you, such as syncing it across your devices. That permission ends when you delete it or your account, subject to the retention details in the Privacy Policy.
You are responsible for your content. Only add information and photos you have the right to use, and do not add anything unlawful, harmful or misleading. If you share a place using the share sheet, you are choosing to send it to the people you pick.
9. Acceptable use
When using the Service, you agree not to:
- break the law or infringe anyone’s rights;
- copy, scrape or harvest our content or data in bulk, or use it to build a competing database or product;
- reverse engineer, decompile or tamper with the app, except where the law allows it;
- try to gain unauthorised access to the Service, other people’s accounts or our systems, or interfere with their security or operation;
- introduce malware or send automated or excessive requests;
- impersonate another person or misrepresent who you are; or
- use the Service for commercial purposes without our written permission.
10. Our content and other people’s content
The app, website, design, text, logo, the ChildrenGoWhere name and our compilation of place and event information belong to us or our licensors and are protected by law. Subject to the Apple EULA and these terms, you may use them for your own personal, non-commercial use. You may not otherwise copy, republish or sell them.
Venue and event names, logos and photographs belong to the venues, organisers and photographers concerned, and we use them with permission or under the licence that applies. Apple, iPhone, Apple Maps and App Store are trademarks of Apple Inc. Nothing in the Service gives you any right to use other people’s trademarks or images.
If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them without owing you anything.
11. Third-party services and links
The Service relies on and links to services we do not control, including Apple (sign-in, Maps and notifications), Google Firebase, venue and event websites, phone numbers you can tap to call, and apps you share to, such as WhatsApp, Messages or Facebook. Their own terms and privacy policies apply. We are not responsible for their content, availability or actions.
12. Cost and changes to the service
ChildrenGoWhere is free to download and use, with no in-app purchases. Your mobile carrier may charge for data. If we ever introduce paid features, we will set out separate terms and you will need to agree before you are charged.
We may add, change or remove features, or suspend or discontinue the Service, and we do not promise it will always be available or error-free. Some updates may need a newer version of iOS.
13. Disclaimers
The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we do not give any promise or warranty about the Service, including that information is accurate, complete or current, that it suits your needs, or that it will be uninterrupted or secure. Nothing in these terms takes away rights that you have by law and that cannot be excluded.
14. Limits on our liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of enjoyment, wasted travel or costs of a visit, or for anything that results from relying on information in the Service, the condition, safety, opening or cancellation of any venue or event, or the acts of venues, organisers or other third parties. Our total liability to you for all claims relating to the Service is limited to S$100.
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited or excluded by law.
15. Ending your use
You can stop using the Service at any time and delete your account in the app. We may suspend or end your access, with or without notice, if you break these terms, misuse the Service, put others or the Service at risk, or if the law requires it. Sections that by their nature should continue, such as those on content, disclaimers, liability and governing law, will continue after your access ends.
16. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Singapore, and the courts of Singapore have jurisdiction over any dispute about them, subject to any mandatory rights you have under the law where you live. Please contact us first at hello@childrengowhere.com so that we can try to sort things out.
17. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time, for example when we add features or the law changes. We will change the “Last updated” date above, and for significant changes we will tell you in the app or on this site. If you keep using the Service after a change takes effect, you accept the updated terms. If you do not agree, stop using the Service and delete your account.
18. General
These terms, the Privacy Policy and the Apple EULA are the whole agreement between you and us about the Service. If a part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest stays in force. If we do not enforce a right straight away, we have not given it up. You may not transfer your rights under these terms, but we may transfer ours as part of a business change. Apart from Apple, as described in section 1, no one other than you and us has a right to enforce these terms.
